RELEASE: National Citizens Coalition Partners with Project Ontario to Hold Ford Conservatives Accountable and Address Youth Unemployment

Dear Supporters,

The National Citizens Coalition, and its Ontarians for Responsible Government advocacy campaign, are proud to announce a dynamic collaboration with Project Ontario, a grassroots initiative dedicated to renewing principled conservative leadership in Ontario.

Together, we’re working to hold the Ford Conservative government to account, ensuring it delivers on policies that prioritize the needs of Ontarians, but especially our youth. In a powerful feature published today in The Hub, Project Ontario’s Matt Spoke and NCC Director Alexander Brown tackle the pressing issue of youth unemployment in Canada, but particularly Ontario, where numbers have hit a crisis point.

feature_hubjuly28.jpgTitled “The First Job is Disappearing, and Young Canadians Deserve Better,” the article highlights the alarming rise in youth unemployment -- the highest in 25 years, and north of 20% in Toronto -- and the displacement of Canadian workers by over three-million non-permanent residents. This crisis is pricing young Canadians out of entry-level jobs and threatening their economic future and their ability to get out of the starting blocks.

Premier Ford’s recent threat to fast-track work permits for 100,000s of asylum claimants would turn a four-alarm blaze into a five.

Our joint mission is clear: advocate for policies that restore opportunities for young Canadians, such as summer, entry-level, and low-wage jobs, which are critical for building skills, confidence, and financial independence. The NCC continues its leading call for a Responsible Immigration, “Hire Canadian” movement to prioritize local workers and reduce reliance on temporary foreign labour, with that ongoing case outlined in the article. This collaboration pushes for bold reforms, tax breaks to incentivize hiring first-time Canadian employees, streamlined regulations to boost job creation, and an end to policies that suppress wages and displace Canadian talent.

As Director of the NCC, I am committed to ensuring the Ford government upholds conservative principles of fiscal responsibility, individual opportunity, and meaningful economic growth. I’m not alone in my continued disappointment with this provincial ‘Conservative’ government, seemingly in name only. Hard-working Ontario families deserve better, and so do their kids.

Project Ontario shares this vision, and has my full support. Together, we will hold this government to account while championing solutions that empower the next generation and offer Ontarians hope for a better tomorrow, instead of more Liberal-lite and managed decline.
