National Citizens Coalition Praises Conservative Party's Bold Call to Abolish Temporary Foreign Worker Program and Prioritize Canadian Workers, Over Disloyal Profiteers Engaged in Wage Suppression, Exploitation, and Fraud

For Immediate Release:
September 3, 2025 -- The National Citizens Coalition (NCC) today applauds the Conservative Party of Canada and Immigration Critic Michelle Rempel Garner for their decisive announcement to abolish the Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP), with exceptions only for hard-to-fill positions in agriculture.
This long-overdue reform addresses the program's out-of-control exploitation of low-wage foreign labour at the expense of Canadian workers, marking a significant step forward for responsible immigration policy and a return to opportunity and prosperity.
“The Conservative Party's commitment to ending the TFWP as we know it is a direct response to the voices of everyday Canadians who have been sidelined in their own job market,” said NCC Director Alexander Brown. “For too long, this program has been abused as a tool to suppress wages, displace qualified Canadians, and has allowed corporations to prioritize cheap foreign labour over investing in our domestic workforce. On this issue, Michelle Rempel Garner's clear leadership demonstrates the Conservatives' dedication to putting Canadian workers first, unlike the Carney Liberals to date.”
The NCC has been at the forefront of immigration advocacy this summer, driving national conversations through its Canadians for Responsible Immigration campaign. This initiative mobilized thousands of Canadians to demand reforms that protect our labour market and ensure immigration again serves the national interest. Complimenting this effort, the NCC's media calls under a “Hire Canadian” banner highlighted real stories of displaced workers and urged policymakers to prioritize domestic hiring.
Director Alexander Brown's continued advocacy efforts – which have included op-eds, podcasts, radio, and video forums – have been instrumental in building momentum for these changes. “This announcement and this progress back towards order and good governance wouldn't have happened without the persistent efforts of NCC supporters and the groundswell of support from Canadians who believe in fair play and worry about what’s being robbed from Canada’s present and future,” added Brown. “We've shown that when citizens unite for responsible policies, real change is possible. We look forward to communicating with the Official Opposition to further push for these reforms swiftly and effectively, and we won’t stop holding Mark Carney to account, along with this network of fraudsters, disloyal business interests, and mass-immigration lobbyists.”
The abolition of the TFWP, excluding essential agricultural roles, will help restore balance to Canada's immigration system, boost wages for low-skilled workers, and encourage businesses to train and hire from within our borders. With youth unemployment consistently at record highs, and frustrations from unvetted Liberal migration mounting, these changes are essential to restore Canada’s labour market and to provide social stability.
The NCC encourages all Canadians to support this initiative and hold the government accountable towards its implementation. To the surprise of very few, Carney has already signalled he’d prefer to stand with this exploitation practice, that has left entire generations without hope for the future.
