RELEASE -- It's Time For True Ontario Conservatism

Last night’s decisive win for Doug Ford and the Ontario Progressive Conservatives—securing a rare third consecutive majority—sends a powerful message. Ontario, with its massive electoral weight, has reaffirmed trust in Conservative leadership.

But it's what comes next that matters most.

As an organization, the NCC has been critical of the Ford government in the past. They have proven themselves to be unreliable on out-of-control spending, crime, incentivizing housing starts, protecting culture, stopping the weekly Hamas hate rallies, and stepping in to end Ontario's leading fraudulent 'diploma mill' and illegal trucking rackets. Hallway healthcare has also only grown.

Ontario's school and business lockdowns were among the harshest in the world, driving thousands of businesses into closure and leaving young families to consider life outside Ontario.

And outside Queen's Park, the statue of Sir John A. Macdonald still sits entombed.

To suggest their "Conservative" record hasn't been all that conservative might be an understatement, yet we know they remain capable of so much more.

In search of a "Protect Ontario" mandate to outlast the Trump administration south of the border, the results ended up being largely status quo, with the Ontario PCs gaining one seat from the time of dissolution. That justification for a snap election may not have fully resonated with the electorate, but, more interestingly, it now means that Ford will outlast an outgoing Justin Trudeau's total time in office, and provides a much-needed opportunity for Conservative influence in the years to come, but particularly during a soon-approaching unelected Carney Coronation period.

Federally, Ford’s success shows that Canadians crave stability, relatability, and pragmatic leadership amid economic uncertainty—like the looming U.S. tariff threat he campaigned against. His ability to win over diverse ridings, from Toronto suburbs to industrial hubs, mirrors the coalition federal Conservatives need to unseat the Liberals. It’s proof that a united, common-sense conservative vision can return majority gains across Canada and help kickstart Ontario as Canada's self-proclaimed "economic engine."

Provincially, this mandate lets Ford deliver unapologetic Conservative priorities: slashing red tape, fighting crime, boosting economic growth, and protecting jobs—all while standing firm against external pressures. With the opposition weakened, and the province in need of dramatic changes, there’s no excuse to delay. Policies of far-left appeasement will no longer cut it.

As over-60s in the Ontario suburbs find themselves increasingly won over by Mark Carney and his soon to be recanted promises on energy, affordability, and a reduction in red tape, here at the National Citizens Coalition, we're calling on the Ford government to dramatically adjust their 'Liberal-lite' approach, unbox Sir John A. Macdonald their first day back in the legislature, and provide the conservative Canadian leadership that's sorely needed during this moment of tariff uncertainty and Liberal economic ruin.

Knowing all the damage that needs undoing, and what a Liberal promise is worth after a decade of destruction and decline, we feel such leadership would be truly worthy of the moniker 'Team Canada.'
