Trudeau’s Debate Dodge Shows A Control Freak Lurks Behind His ‘Sunny Ways’ Mask
By Spencer Fernando, exclusive to the National Citizens Coalition
In the 2015 campaign, the Liberals framed a huge part of their message around the idea of ‘openness and transparency.’
They promised to ‘do things differently,’ and to provide Canadians with a government that was more accountable than any we had ever seen before.
‘Sunny Ways Justin’ would be the opposite of ‘Control Freak Steve.’
We know how that turned out.
Soon after taking power, the promise of ‘openness and transparency’ was thrown in the trash along with electoral reform, small ‘temporary deficits’, support for Veterans, middle class tax cuts, and all the other broken promises of the Trudeau government.
And, Trudeau’s response to the SNC-Lavalin Scandal has shown Canadians that he’s willing to be open and transparent about only one thing: He thinks the rules don’t apply to him.
The corrupt attitude of the Trudeau government has been so obvious, so ‘in your face,’ and so poorly hidden that it almost constitutes its own form of openness, just not the kind anyone wants.
Along those lines, Trudeau’s decision to apparently dodge 3 out of 5 leaders debates shows how open the Liberals are now being in their attempt to avoid any accountability for their actions.
As many have pointed out, Trudeau had time to go on a US comedy/politics show – which didn’t work out so well for him – but somehow can’t find the time to attend a few extra debates during an election.
This wouldn’t be the first time the Liberals have shut down discussion, as they’ve become experts at it.
Remember how the Ethics Commissioner wanted to testify on his devastating report into Trudeau’s violation of ethics law?
Well, the Liberals decided that wasn’t in their political interests, so he was shut down and silenced.
Remember how Jody Wilson-Raybould wanted to be legally freed up to share her full story?
Well, the Liberals decided that wasn’t in their political interests, so she was shut down and silenced, while Trudeau gets to keep on talking about it.
And now that Canadians want more opportunities to see the main party leaders, including the PM, answer questions on key issues – including on foreign policy which is just a tad important currently given the dumpster fires emerging worldwide – Trudeau and the Liberals have decided that more debates aren’t in their political interests either, so he’s simply going to dodge them.
