NCC Says Goodbye to Murray Kash

It is our regret to inform you that Murray Kash, a lifelong friend and employee of the National Citizens Coalition has passed. We are dedicating this blog to Murray to let our members know a little more behind the voice of the NCC for the last ten years.

Murray was born on September 16, 1923. He graduated Lorne Green Academy of radio and TV arts, took drama courses at the Royal Conservatory in Toronto and the Banff School of Fine Arts. He also studied at the Royal Shakespeare and National Theatres in the U.K.

Murray was known for his role in the James Bond film Thunderball where he played SPECTRE #9. He was in many movies both in voice and person and a full list of movies is available here.

Recently Murray has been teaching seminars and workshops on voice training for the last 30 years while continuing to appear on many TV and radio shows including City TV, the Life Channel, CFRB, and 640 Talk Radio.

Murray came to the NCC in 1997 after reading one of our ads in the paper and he has been calling members ever since. He was also the voice in our radio commercials. His unmatched sense of humour and comforting voice made him a valuable member of the NCC. He truly was a kind, caring and decent man. More than that he was a valued friend and he will be sadly missed.

Gary Gilmore says:

Murray was the consumate smooth talker. He succeeded in prying money out of me on virtually every phone call. You had to respond because he sounded so committed and enthusiastic. His passion for the NCC was palpable. I had no idea of all his other accomplishments.

Tim Boyle says:

Gosh, I guess that explains why Murry hadn’t been making calls lately. I had no idea about his impressive background, I do know that he had an uncanny knack of soothing people out of their mid-day cranky funk to the point of extracting significant sums of money from them - I know that because I was one of the regular cranks he called. I am very sorry to hear of Murry’s passing and only wish that I had known him a little better when he was with us.

Gerry Nicholls says:

I am greatly saddened to hear this. As someone who worked with Murray for many years, I can attest to his good-natured enthusiasm and his laid-back charm. And of course, his acting skills always injected a little drama in NCC ads! The NCC will miss him.

When you heard Murray’s voice over the phone there was an immediate sense of connection like hearing from a long time friend.
