We could use some global warming

I don’t know about you, but I am getting kind of sick of winter. The bone chilling temperatures are continuing even though we turned the calendar to March.

I have always been skeptical of global warming and all of the fat cats like Al Gore making millions spreading misguided information. This article caught my eye and you can read it here.

The article lays out some interesting facts as to what is really going on with respect to global warming. Why does none of this information make main stream media reporting? Your guess is as good as mine – but the reality is the media does not want to give up on their crusade.

The interesting thing is that in tough economic times the public opinion on environmental issues, as public issue number one, drops way down the list.

I don’t know about you, but I could use a little bit of global warming right now!

It’s all about carbon tax.
In BC we are all paying the carbon tax that the BC government slapped o last year (to add insult to injury we pay GST on the tax)
The carbon tax has worked really well and we are having a cold and snowy winter. But when the tax overdoes it we ship the cold weather east, so other provinces will not have to impose a carbon tax too, because if every province did a carbon tax it would be too much of a good thing.

CGM says:

Global warming is a crock. In my opinion it is nothing more than a three step plan to create a new source of revenue, the carbon tax. Step 1: They released the test balloons to get us thinking about the potential problems of global warming. Step 2: The problems are being created, and the focus is on how it will affect our daily lives and destroy our comfort and safety. Step 3: The solution is already being suggested. Carbon tax to punish those who pollute. My neighbor is 86 years old and a farmer. Weather patterns occur in cycles that are larger than the samples they take to propose the myth of global warming. History shows over the long term that weather patters go through warming and cooling trends. Clearly this past two winters have been evidence of a cooling trend, not global warming. Wake up and smell the coffee: Those would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. (Benjamin Franklin)

Paul says:

Global Warming activists have done a disservice to the environmentalist’s plight as a whole by focusing our attention on a small symptom (fact or not) rather than illustrating the bigger picture. An ever increasing population in a closed system (Earth) is bound to run out of raw materials (like drinking water) which in turn will lead to conflict. A hundred years ago man did not need to be concerned with his effect on the planet but now he does. Explosive population growth and rampent consumerism coupled with a disregard for conservation has shown us that. Current measures for a countries growth (GNDP) count incidents like the Exxon Valdez and Hurricane Katrina as positives activities rather than the catastrophies that they are. The current economic crises gives us pause to rethink what we can afford to have on so many levels. From 4000 sq ft homes for a family of 2 to 4, to huge vehicles with for short comutes, to containers of imported crap through your local Wallmart, it’s not sustainable
Even dogs are smart enough to not crap where they sleep.

Climate change is a very complex issue and becauase of that I have read
5 books on the subject and starting the 6th.
There are far more scientific studies that bring serious doubt to the mainstream media hype than there is to support it. There are many things external to the Earth and indigenous to it that indicate it is not the CO2 level that causes warmer trends. CO2 levels trend higher after the normal warming cycles. We are being sold this century’s greatest fraud to soften us up for many new taxes and Government controls over our lives.
I find it astounding that so many of our public “leaders” are so easily sucked in. I suggest they have read nothing outside the politcally correct
reporting. Shame on their poor judgement.

There is little doubt that the phrase ‘global warming’ has provided a HUGE source of revenue for ‘would be’ scientists or environmental gurus.
These are the people who want to study something because it is more interesting then actually working. By attaching ‘global warming’ impacts to an otherwise somewhat redundant study, they can obtain government funds to support their gathering of information - for YEARS! Just look at the increase in research $$ in the last decade. It is astounding.
And has been mentioned by other bloggers, if the hype can be maintained then it gives governments the opportunity to impose new taxes…and everyone goes away happy except those of us working and paying the taxes.

Christopher-Peter: Maingot says:

Over 650 scientists criticize climate claims by the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and former vice president Al Gore.

On Dec 11, 2008, a revised U.S. Senate Minority Report was released, featuring the dissenting voices of more than 650 international scientists, many of these current and former UN IPCC scientists, have now turned against the UN.

Ivar Giaever, a Nobel Prize Winner for Physics, was quoted as saying: “I am a skeptic … Global warming has become a new religion. Since I am no longer affiliated with any organization nor receiving any funding, I can speak quite frankly….As a scientist I remain skeptical…The main basis of the claim that man’s release of greenhouse gases is the cause of the warming is based almost entirely upon climate models. We all know the frailty of models concerning the air-surface system.”

Warming fears are the “worst scientific scandal in the history…When people come to
know what the truth is, they will feel deceived by science and scientists.” - UN IPCC
Japanese Scientist Dr. Kiminori Itoh, an award-winning PhD environmental physical
chemist.

“So far, real measurements give no ground for concern about a catastrophic future
warming.” - Scientist Dr. Jarl R. Ahlbeck, a chemical engineer at Abo Akademi
University in Finland, author of 200 scientific publications and former Greenpeace
member.

Is the world getting warmer? - Yes.

Has it ever been this warm before? – Most definitely…much warmer and long before “carbon emissions.”

Should we clean up industrial pollution? – For sure, but don’t loose sight of how the “global warming” hysterics is conveniently letting the polluters off the hook.

We know who puts the mercury and other dangerous toxins into our air, soil, food, and the Hydrofluorosilic Acid (HFSA) into our drinking water. We know exactly what companies are doing it, and where their industrial facilities are located.

So what do we do? – We come up with old new green plans (carbon taxes) just another consumer tax revenue generated, government plan to steal more money from the so-called middle class…realistically known as the poor.

This is a swindle if ever there was one, and Al Gore being awarded with a Nobel Prize is the proof that’s needed…something stinks in Denmark…and Greenland too.

Every one that believes we are doomed by the “global warming trend,” needs to watch the following documentary.

To mind come the “solar panelists”, the “wind power generatorists”, and maybe some others. Unfortunately, politicians all over the western world somehow use the fearmongering for their benefit - vote for me, and I shall save not only you but even the whole planet! Kyoto, or the EU commitment to reduce CO2 emissions by 20% by 2020 are just for laughs but unfortunately they are costng billions of dollars that could be spent more wisely. The fact that Mr. Gore was aworded the “Peace price” is in my opinion an insult to all the previous recipients, and indicates to me the deterioration of our sociaty values.

This whole swindle is put on by semi-scientists and their hypnotised follwers; David Suzuki, Al Gore, Gordon Campbell, Stephen Dion, and such ilk. In the 1970’s and ’80’s the conventional scientific view was that the earth was in an interglacial period and could tip back into another ice age at any time. A number of studies have shown that the last several ice ages exhibit a regular pattern, and a 2008 report in Nature magazine predicted that based on that pattern, we would be entering another ice age some time within the next 10,000 years.

Scientists know for sure that only 10,000 years ago almost all of Canada and northern Europe was under 2 km of ice. Simple risk assessment indicates that another ice age is a greater risk than runaway global warming. The global warming activists had better hope that their theory about human-caused warming is true, as that may be all that saves our decendents from having to move south to Mexico as the next ice sheet advances.

Global Warming or Global Governance

This documentary showcases the interviews of climate scientists and biologists from numerous sources, who explain step by step, why Al Gore and the global warming alarmists are incorrect. And, in some cases, blatantly so, too. It also provides evidence that the global warming agenda is being funded with tens of billions of dollars as a mechanism to create global governance. Hear from congressmen, experts and even well-known news broadcasters how global governance puts global institutions that are not accountable to the American people in control of every aspect of our economy. The U.S. government is very close to making this a reality. Very close. Every American, every citizen of the world, needs to hear the other side of the global warming story.
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=4860344067427439443

The roots of global governance
(New World Order – One World Governance – One World Order – Our GLOBAL Neighborhood)
goes well back over a hundred years.

“The powers of financial capitalism had another far reaching aim, nothing less than to create a world system of financial control in private hands able to dominate the political system of each country and the economy of the world as a whole. This system was to be controlled in a feudalist fashion by the central banks of the world acting in concert, by secret agreements arrived at in frequent private meetings and conferences”. (Page 324)
Excerpt from “Tragedy & Hope” by: Carol Quigley – American historian

Ask yourself…why you’re never told that much higher levels of atmospheric carbon dioxide can provide a huge benefit to the people, and the earth’s environment…

I believe the “great minds” that promote the global warming theory are as flawed as the “great minds” that wanted Galileo charged with heresy for saying Sun was the center of the Universe.
I also remember in the early 1980 when a local weather expert said that by the mid 1990 we would no longer be able to grow serial crops in the Peace River Region of Alberta because of the current onset of another ice age. National Geographic even did an article around 1984 about this looming catastrophe. The belief that CO2 the cause global warming is bunk, it may not even contribute to it at all.

Count me as an extreme skeptic on “man-made” climate change until someone can explain how changes in avg. temperatures on Mars parallel those on Earth. None of the MSM gets into the sunspot activity effect, the “little Ice Age” phenomenon, the ice-cap level in the Arctic now being back to historic highs, etc. Offending or exposing to criticism the MSM collective ego is apparently more important than getting to the truth. I call this behaviour spiritual masturbation. Such behaviour allows these people to give some pseudo-meaning to lives otherwise filled by shop-till-you-drop activities.

For the record, the atmosphere is currently carbon dioxide deficient. Geological ages ago, CO2 levels were up to ten times higher than they are today, and the Earth was a much greener, lusher place. If CO2 levels drop to about 200 ppm, plant life slows down (just ask any commercial greenhouse operator), and if they drop to 150 ppm, plant life will start to die, and all animal life will shortly follow. The very last thing we need now is any form of carbon limitation or sequestration.

Christopher-Peter: Maingot says:

To: Kayly…the main subject of contention, especially as it relates to “global warming,” has to do with so-called, man made, carbon dioxide emissions, as being the number one suspect or culprit to climate warming. I can’t agree that global warming is all bad, because it allowed for the Vikings to live a somewhat normal life (like grow crops) on Greenland, many years ago however. Your point; regarding more precipitation going into our atmosphere as a result of the warm weather, is somewhat of a misnomer…you can have very warm weather, in and around desert areas, with little or no precipitation. Also, precipitation usually comes from the clouds, as a result of evaporation…perhaps condensation is what you meant. And you should perhaps consider this too; with a warming planet (increased heating), there will actually be more evaporation of the water on the surface…less water and or precipitation falling, leading to more droughts, with perhaps even less snow in the winter too, yeah! This also means that sea levels would be dropping, which has been recently proven by many scientist, unlike the Nobel Al Gore, who claims they’re rising, but then again, the man is still playing with “the hockey stick.” Hopefully, I speak for several bloggers here; I don’t understand why you had to resort to what appears to be, a racist comment remark, and directed at someone simply for the comment above; “we could use some global warming.” Wow, are you feeling the results of the heat or what? A little off subject material, about being CANADIAN. CANADA in all upper case spelling, is actually different than the geographic landmass, Canada or Kanada, as the original people (First Nations) referred to it, before it was taken from them with force, and the use of weapons of mass destruction. A created entity (aka a corporation) was created with the word CANADA and, CANADIANS therefore, would be the rightful shareholders of this corporation…not such a bad thing, really, if only we could all collect our rightful dividends, that is.

Although people have taken notice of this and have smartened up, creating less carbon emission, helping to mend the ozone layer. This is a good sign that has created our winters to be heavier and more sever than in privious years.

For a real criticism of Al Gore’s ridiculous ideas in his movie, An Inconvenient Truth, read Christopher Monckton’s article, 35 INCONVENIENT TRUTHS, the errors in Al Gore’s movie.

Kayly…Huron Indian…seriously, I had you pegged for being stranded with Scottish DNA, especially with a name like yours, but then again…who can tell these days, right? You should really try and set aside some time to view this documentary, perhaps in two or three part intervals: “Global Warming or Global Governance” http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=4860344067427439443
Beside this video, and quite complementary, there are written reports that both scientifically and, more recently, accurately, question the whole “Inconvenient Truth.” Who would have thought, certainly not Al Gore; the name of this, his documentary, would keep him from sleeping nights. The man looks more bloated, and of waxy complexion every time I see him. You should read the Edward J. Wegman report: It covers the following subject; Climate Change 2001: Third Assessment Report, featured alarming statistics concerning the rapid rise in global temperatures during the decade of the 1990s and suggested that this rapid rise was due principally to anthropogenicly (us humans – too much sheep and pig farming) generated greenhouse gas emissions, specifically carbon dioxide. This document was taken to be a strong justification for the Kyoto Accord. Featured prominently in the IPCC report was the work of Dr. Michael Mann, Dr. Raymond Bradley, and Dr. Malcolm Hughes (Mann et al., 1998, 1999) [MBH98, MBH99] – Mann et al., were responsible for the controversial “hockey stick” graph. The papers featured temperature reconstructions going back as far as 1000 years. The methodology found in Mann et al. employed a statistical technique known as principal components analysis (PCA). Challenges to the way in which PCA was used have arisen from McIntyre and McKitrick (2003, 2005a, 2005b) [MM03, MM05a, MM05b]. The challenges are based on rather subtle mathematical nuances. The findings
found MBH98 and MBH99 to be somewhat obscure and incomplete and
the criticisms of MM03/05a/05b to be valid and compelling. After MBH99, Stephen McIntyre and Ross McKitrick [MM03] published their critique of the 1998 paper, citing calculation errors, unjustified truncation or extrapolation of source data, obsolete data, geographical location errors and incorrect calculation of principal components. They also claimed that using the MBH98 methodology and the Northern Hemisphere average temperature index for the period 1400-1980 shows that temperatures in the 15th century exceeded those of the late 20th century. In particular, they claim that MBH98’s incorrect usage of PCA alone resulted in the well-known “hockey stick” shape. (Hmmm)

As a former newspaper journalist I’d like to take issue with what the NCC’s position on climate change.
Until 2007, it was impossible to write an article that came to the conclusions that are now readily apparent in the melting of the polar ice and the thawing of permafrost.
Weather and climate are two different things. Fluctuations in weather are insufficient to explain or stop the deep thaw that is threatening northern communities and the movement of ocean water that keeps the climate stable - i.e. keeps the seasons in order.
Environmentalists don’t make money by crusading, and the problem is no closer to being solved, despite floods of economic stimulus cash.
If we were to skip one growing season, we would all be famine-stricken, and the problem of over-population and over-consumption abundantly clear. World grain stocks are at an all-time low.
We’re headed for a crisis for which we are completely unprepared; so we can change our ways now, or suffer the consequences.

To: Anna-Maria Galante -
As a current commercial pilot (aviation), I could never accept your opinion on weather, and climate, being two different things. Other than semantically that is. You can’t have one without the other, and they are both influenced by the same forces or sources…nature if you will. If someone were to ask you; what’s the climate is like in Canada? I imagine you’d say; it’s cold in the winter with lots of snow and ice, and hot and humid with lots of haze in the skies over Toronto, in the summer…that’s explaining the type of weather patterns we experience, owing or attributed to Canada’s climate. Here are some detailed descriptions or definitions of these two words: - Weather: State of the air or atmospheric conditions with respect to heat (Bahamas) cold (Canada), wetness, dryness, calm (little or no wind), storm (high winds – hurricanes), clear skies (haze due to pollution….smog – combination of smoke (typically industrial) and fog, cloudy skies, or any other meteorological phenomena (all of the above…creating climates): - Climate: Average conditions of the atmosphere near the earth’s surface, over a long period of time, taking into account; temperature, precipitation (rain, snow, sleet, hail, ice pellets, fog…Canadian weather), humidity, wind, barometric pressure tendencies and, other such meteorological (weather) conditions or phenomena (fog). It’s precisely due to this direct correlation, and function of weather on our climactic conditions, which causes and explains these influences; “Fluctuations in weather, stopping the deep thaw (causing an ice age) that is threatening northern communities and the movement of ocean water (gravitational influence caused by the moon) that keeps the climate stable - i.e. keeps the seasons in order.” You won’t have stable climates or orders of the seasons, if the weather itself, is also unstable or out of order. Now, why is the weather no longer stable? Well, it might have something to do with astronomic (space and time) influences…the changing orbits (positions), and or axis (rotation – faster or slower) of the planets in our system…gravity…galactic. Now, it all depends on whether you’re Al Gore and, have had a nobel prize handed to you, that would determine whether a so-called “environmentalist can make money crusading.” There are many other countries in this world of ours, where food can be grown in quantities, enough to feed every human being on this planet, and more. Some so-called educated “smart” people, in this world, choose to view our food as suitable alternatives, or energy substitutes for Sport Utility Vehicles. And, they also perform “GMO” experiments with our foods, whereby the food can no longer supports its own seeds, let alone you. They (the Monsanto’s, et al) will eventually control whether farmers will be able to grow food, or not, that is, without a price and permission, controlled by them. I can surely agree with the following point you make however; “over-consumption is and has been abundantly clear.” No offence intended…main stream media (MSM) has seen to that, and continues to support that concept too. You do give me some cause to wonder however, whether you’ve been influenced by MSM to believe, or support conspiracy theories, such as that coming from the likes of the Council on Foreign Relations and the infamous “Club of Rome.” Have you, like many others, succumbed to their stories of “over-population?” By the way, we can change the situation of grain quantities in just one growing season. It’s due to economic games…supply and demand…corn and wheat for gas (ethanol). The real crisis which we’re headed for, and are completely unprepared to undergo, speaking for myself anyway, is the third world war. The nuclear generated climate, which will be the ultimate cause of millions of violent deaths, given to actual human sacrifices (population control) i.e., the most typically used method (wars) of controlling the number of human lives since “the great one – WW-one” It’s been forming, taking shape in our atmosphere, and in particular, influencing the climactic relations in the Middle East for many, many years now. Coincidentally, it’s been a growing opinion that; the United States are “seeding these clouds” which will ultimately influence the weather, which will create the mother of all storms in that climatic region of this world…
