Liberal Reality Check Needs A Reality Check

During an election it is only a matter of time before the Liberal party decides to take a shot at the National Citizens Coalition and Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s tenure as our President.

We have been through two federal elections since Harper left the NCC, and now that the third is underway the Liberals are back at us.  The Liberal’s latest “Reality Check” media release, which you can read here, is full of ludicrous accusations, and over exaggerated “facts”.

The NCC believes in free speech and less government, and the Liberal party is intimidated by that.

We are sure our response to these accusations, which you can read here, will draw further shots from the Liberals, but we don’t care.  We are proud of the role we have played in Canadian politics for the past 40 years.  No amount of mud slinging from any political party will stop us from fighting for a government that is accountable, transparent and responsible to its taxpayers.

It is time for the Liberal “Reality Check” to get a reality check of its own!

It is time someone asked the leaders why are they pouring $6-8 billion into Official Bilingualism when there are more urgent matters such as the homeless , middle class disappearing to poor class.? And to think no where else in the world is the English langauge persecuted as it is in Quebec with the blessings of all Federal Govts. while a fractured French rating #13 in the world is sometimes taking first place on signs ( Winnipeg Airport and most medicine bottles amd pachkages.
Please let that sacred cow words French and O.B. be discussed in the open. Too many Anglos’s have lost their jobs in Ottwaa and else where includihg the army. Dot Davies -Fuhrman

It really says it all when I realized, after reading this nonsense on the Liberal site, that there is no place for the reader to respond. No blog. No email link. No comment link.

They wouldn’t want to risk letting the truth come out, now, would they.

So Harper considers being leader of the NCC self employment?
Is that what our prime minister has as a resume of work experience or was that what you meant by exaggerated “facts”? I have to admit to not being to politically savy.
Could explain though why business get tax cuts instead of measures taken to weaken the “loonie” and the self-employed get extended ‘workers’ benefits.
I just found out Elizabeth May’s was born in the U.S. and her family still lives there and she’s friends with Bill Clinton.
The more I learn the less faith I have in this country’s leadership, what next?

So Layton promises “Forgiving student loans for graduating health care professionals who commit the first ten years of their practice to family medicine.” This quote is directly from the NDP website. It sure sounds like discrimination to me. Why not include Engineers, MBA’s, Lawyers, Teachers etc. etc. In fact Jack lets forgive all student loans for everyone after they put in 10 years of working in their profession.

Bernard Coady says:

Bravo for the NCC. The Liberal party can lie and rant all it wants but the NCC can stand proud for what it promtes to ensure we have a better and accountable government. Perhaps the Liberals need a reality check on the sponsership scandal to revive their memories.

DouglasM says:

If student loans are going to be “forgiven”, a euphemism for not having to be paid back, who is going to lend the students the money for education in the first place???

Maybe Jack would understand better if the debt assets in his pension went through a similar process, he might get it. “Hey Jack, you know all those bonds in your gold-plated MP pension? We told the debtors that the debt is all forgiven - they don’t have to pay any of it back. Oh, Jack? Those bonds in your pension? They are now worthless because the interest and principal owing is not going to be repaid. You won’t have enough to retire on in your MP pension. You’ll have to get a job and keep working for years like the rest of Canadians.”

Have we made progress in 40+ years, absolutely! We give a voice to likeminded Canadians on the issues of better, more accountable government, healthcare, freedom of speech, especially during elections (the election advertising laws make it onerous for individuals to speak out so the NCC gives members and educates the public on issues that are important to Canadians), government spending, government monopolies and other economic issues. The NCC has been around 40+ years. It’s still around because its members know it’s needed as much as it was 40 years ago.

A.M. says:

Thank God we have the NCC. Dion is trying to undermine Harper by attacking you, hoping the mud slinging will stick to Harper because he believes in free speech, less government etc. The best thing to do is not to respond,, refute them indirectly by listing all your accomplishments in helping this country. I feel we need the NCC more than ever now. Keep those ads going .
The debate I feel will be too weighted to one side. All three opposing parties against the Conservatives. The Green Party,( Elizabeth May’s background has not been fully scrutinized. How did she get to be included in the debate. I thought you had to have one seat before you could be included in the debate. Wasn’t that the reason why the Reform Party was blocked when they tried to be part of the debate?) Is May really capable of leading the country? NDP (Layton is determined to be the next Prime Minister and I feel he will not care who he sides with to get it. Will he think of the good of the country before his own ambitions, he thinks he does but I do not think so. Then there is Dion, need I say more? Is he really capable of leading the country? Keep up the good work.

I have recently learned that the current population of British Columbia, since it has grown by leaps and bounds, should have 7 more MP’s to represent it’s interest in Ottawa. The Liberal MP in our riding Keith Martin, voted against the addition of any more MP’s for B.C. What is this about??? What can be done about it?
