Free Speech

One of the core values of any democratic society is the right to free speech.  During this federal election campaign we want to hear what our politicians have to say when it comes to free speech.

As many of you are aware, Canada’s federal and provincial Human Rights Commissions are becoming nothing more than a cesspool of political correctness gone mad.

The NCC has mounted a Stop the Free Speech campaign that you can view here.  We believe that this erosion of our basic rights has to stop.  Taxpayers should not be footing the bill for any of the complaints that these commissions hear.

We are going to press all politicians on this issue.  We want to know what our federal politicians plan to do in order to reform or abolish these Commissions.

Excellent.

This “tip of the iceberg” issue is perhaps the very most important election issue today. Once we have lost our freedom of speech, we have lost our democracy and any way to get it back.

Is there anyone who really adores the political correcness stuff. Probably only those who can use it against another person or group.

Thank you for exposing this.
I never realized before, why as a Canadian, I began looking over my shoulder and being fearful about what I said and not feeling at home in my own country because of the political correctness dominating society. I became very resentful when it was not correct to say Merry Xmas however I believe that is changing and I know I will always say it. They removed Xmas from the school concerts and plays. Banning the Lord’s prayer from beginning the school day. I was not religious however I remember when I went to public school and we said the Lord’s prayer, it was a small interval where we could think about the words, relax and meditate before starting the school day and I found it very refreshing.
Keep up your good work, I do suppost you.
Thankyou.

The preservation of free speech is an excellent campaign priority and goes right to the heart of what I believe the NCC is all about! It is insidious that Canadian governments have actually decided to channel $ millions of tax-payers money into government entities such as the Human Rights Commissions and even the CBC whose sole purpose is to force and enforce left-wing viewpoints on all Canadians.

It’s time to shine a bright light on those cockroaches and make them scurry away!

I just rec’d info on the Human Rights Commission going after the Ontario College of Physicians - this topic could not have come at at better time.
“The Ontario Human Rights Commission (OHRC) is going after the religious and conscience rights of Ontario’s physicians and doctors. It is critical that you understand that this is just a first step. Further tyrannies will follow. Imagine a world where doctors, pharmacists, nurses, teachers,
civil servants, and anyone holding public office were forced to choose
between methodically acting against their conscience and keeping their job.

They have already forced marriage commissioners to make this choice.

This human rights commission is testing the waters and if it succeeds in
influencing the policy of the Ontario College of Physicians and Surgeons
the conscience rights of all Canada’s doctors and physicians will be in
jeopardy and other professional associations should well expect the
commissions to start dictating to them what they can and cannot do.”

I am no longer proud to be Canadian since the Human Rights were given powers to silence & control us. I can’t wait till we move out of this country. Our freedom(s) continue to be eroded by ‘thought agencies’ with no challenge.

Thomas Haberrer says:

Elimination of the excessive power of the Human Rights Commissions is of utmost importance - as important as our economy, health care, etc..

Human Rights Commissions should deal only with overt acts of discrimination in employment and housing (for example).

Make this a prime election issue and I believe that the Conservative party will attract many new supporters.

Amen. I’ve been saying for over 10 years to abolish these kangeroo courts and send to siberia the idiots who inhabit them. It’s nice to see there finally are others who have seen the light, and fear for our freedom of speech. The latest and best examples being the case of the Western standard and Mcleans magazines. Don’t let up on the good work!

This is only one of many issues. The political system in Canada and the United States is broken and must undergo massive changes. John McCain looks like he is going to begin the process there but it will be an uphill battle as so many politicians will want to keep the status quo as they currently benefit form it.

Ken Olson says:

Canada has somehow become a country that loves to be bullied around by any group that comes along and this is yet another example. These commissions are nothing more than a present day Gestapo that has decided for us that certain issues are simply off the table for discussion in this country. In their world, anything can be labelled as “hate” if it does not fall in line with their agenda. Sounds disturbingly similar to the late 30’s in Gemany. While it is more fashionable to talk about Quebec and “climate change”, our politicians need to here from us that this isue is a serious one that needs immediate attention.

The actions of the HRC’s remind me of the Peoples Courts which were extant in Natzi Germany and Stalin’s Communist Russia. Our court system, and the people employed therein, should be concerned about the long term viability of their jobs.

I agree with all of the comments above, and I am grateful that one organization is willing to speak the truth and attempt to wake Canadians up to the freedom of speech restrictions that are not only just around the corner, but already here. A few months ago, Chuck Colson already commented on “what is happening to free speech in Canada”?

Scott in Montreal says:

Umm, correct me if I’m wrong here, but is it not the Human Rights Commission that has helped protect the rights of women, and also protected equality rights, and freedom of religion? I agree that some cases are more trivial than others, but should we really be abolishing an institution that has over the years stood up for countless Canadians?
