Green Remarks Revolting

“In times of conflict or international emergencies, we can continue

Canada’s reputation as peacekeepers and add programs for ecological preservation to protect vulnerable ecosystems.â€

-Green Party of Canada Foreign Policy

With such an unrealistic position on foreign policy it comes as no surprise that a Green party candidate would pen an article describing his elation over the terrorist attacks of 9/11.

What does come as a surprise is that Green candidate Kevin Potvin, still has support in his riding of Vancouver-Kingsway.

Mr. Potvin’s comments are highlighted here in today’s National Post, and are revolting to say the least.

We have to wonder whether there is room in the House of Commons for a man who cheered the deaths of thousands of innocent people, and if there is room in our political system for a party that stands behind such horrific views?

With recent talks of an alliance between the Green and the Liberal parties, one has to question the leadership of Stephan Dion, and question why he would align himself with a party that supports such grim views.  But then again politics does make for strange bedfellows.

From Wikipedia - “On 15 April 2007, Elizabeth May, Leader of the Green Party of Canada, issued a release stating that Potvin would not be allowed to run as a candidate in the riding of Vancouver-Kingsway. The decision was made after a controversy developed over an article Potvin wrote after the September 11 attacks. May cited Potvin’s remarks as “antithetical” to Green Party values.”
