Budget Blues

Somebody remind me again, who is running the federal government, Conservatives or Liberals?

I have to ask because today’s budget sure looks like something the Liberals or maybe even the NDP could have concocted.

Yes, there were some targeted tax cuts for families and a few tax changes to help business, but overall this budget was all about one thing: SPENDING.

Conservatives were supposed to CUT spending; not increase it.

You can see the NCC news release on the budget here.

But what really gets me about today’s budget speech is Finance Minister Jim Flaherty’s comment about providing more funding to the Canada Revenue Agency to ensure “every company pays its fair share of tax.”

Since when do Conservatives want to increase the government’s efficiency when it comes to collecting taxes?

They have a $13 billion surplus for Pete’s sake, isn’t that enough?!

Talk about greedy.

Maybe it’s time the Tories forgot about the politics and re-focused on the ideology.

They certainly need a refresher course in Conservatism 101.

Harper is your boy. He’s a disappointment. He will spend any amount of taxpayers money to feed his ambition.

Worst of all, he screws his Alberta base by including teh energy wealth in the equalization payment. HArper said he would not do that. Only evil liberals do that. A terrible broken promise. Ralph Klein calls it NEP 2.

Maybe I should start sending my usual donation for the CPC to the NCC. I thought we were finally going to get some conservatism and we got more liberalism. It’s a sad day. What happened to the ideals of Mr. Harper? Did he get a job offer from Power Corporation.

After listening to Gerry Nicholls on Mike Duffy today gets me very angry. If he can’t see why the budget was done in such a manner he should resign I have been waiting 15 years for our chance to form a majority Gov. in order to incorperate conservative values ,I’m 74 years old and I don’t need any obstacle like Gerry to get in the way.So you can discontinue my membership. John Shaw says:

There still seems to be people who cling to the notion that somehow conservative in the name of a party will equate with fiscal conservatism in action. The Conservatives proved last election that is not true for them, now they are hammering it home with their run away highest ever spending of this budget.

Below was my comment to the budget, as published this morning in the letters to the editor section of the National Post. The large parties are too mirred in the politics of power at any cost to ever reform, I truly believe that.

……………
In reference to your endorsement of the conservative party on January 18th last year when, despite all the evidence to the contrary, you said the conservatives “get the nod” on fiscal matters. Are you going to give them the nod next time with the evidence even more compelling that they are even more fiscally irresponsible than the liberals or the NDP? Hopefully the Libertarian Party will run someone in my riding next election so I can vote against this, since all the other parties are just in a race to the bottom.

Aaron says:

What are you all whining about? Facts please. I saw a few points that were questionable, I’ll deal with them in the order, but the vast amount of money is going to be spent on such things as road construction, Canadian forces, healthcare, law enforcement etc. Don’t be a bunch of crybabies and read things in the context. Did you expect that after 13 years of liberal rule and surrounded by liberal appointees, Harper all of a sudden will fire all sucklers and propose truly conservative budget? Patience, kids, this is only the beginning.
